Which should I use - desktop, laptop, or device?
This course will work on PC, Mac, desktop, laptop, smartphone and tablets. However, we recommend using a desktop or laptop for the best experience.
How do students register for the course?
Before the online workshop goes live, the lead teacher will receive an email with a student registration link. The link can be forwarded to students who can self register. To do so, students will need to set up a username and password. For ease of use, we suggest using an email address as a username, although it’s not essential.
How long does my school have access for?
By default, we are allowing all schools to have access the online course for 5 weeks. However, if you need access for longer please contact us to discuss.
Which browser should I use?
Chrome is recommended but most other browsers should work fine, provided they aren’t too outdated.
How are modules released?
Your course can be set up so that modules are available immediately or so that they are drip fed over a period of time (ie a new module is released on a daily or weekly basis). In both cases, students will need to complete one module before proceeding to the next module.
Why is the next module not unlocked?
You need to complete the previous module and upload the required assignment before you can advance. For some schools, modules will be released on a weekly basis.
Where do I upload my completed assignments?
Completed submissions can be uploaded using the “Assignment Upload” section on each module page. At the end of each module, students will be re-directed to the module page. Or, you can access course and module pages from https://www.tinpot.ie/mydashboard
If you can’t find the saved assignment on your device, you can take a screenshot and upload this instead.
How long will it take to complete each module?
Each module should take around 40 minutes to complete.
How do I get my Certificate of Completion?
You can download a certificate for each completed module. To access your certificate click continue after you have uploaded your content at the end of each module.
You will also earn a Certificate of Completion for finishing the full TY Transmission course.
Do you need to use headphones?
All videos are captioned. However, we recommend using headphones for the best experience as there are other audio elements within the course. For example, radio commercial audio samples.
What is the teacher dashboard?
All registered teachers will have access to a group dashboard which will enable them to view student course progression and completion. Teachers can also download student assignments from the dashboard.
What is a user?
When your school signs up for the TY Transmission online course, you will be assigned an agreed number of user seats, which can be distributed to teachers or students. Once registered, users will be able to access the course for an agreed period, typically 5 weeks. Teachers will be able to view the number of used and available seats from the teacher dashboard. Teachers can also invite other teachers from the dashboard.
Can multiple teachers administer the course?
From the teacher dashboard, you can invite new teachers to access the course. All teachers will have access to the same teacher dashboard which will enable them to view student course progression, completion and submitted assignments and see how many seats are used and available.
Our students have uploaded asssignments. Why can't we see them in the Teacher Dashboard?
From the teacher dashboard, under ‘Assignment Submissions’, ensure the Status dropdown is set to ‘All’.
I haven't received my login details. Where do I find them ?
When your school’s course is set up, the lead teacher will receive an email with login and access details. Sometimes, this email may be filtered or go to junk or spam folders. How can a teacher give feedback ?
Teachers can view, download and comment on student assignments via the the User Assignments dropdown menu on the teacher dashboard. In terms of feedback, it’s entirely up to individual teachers as to how much feedback they’d like to give and whether that’s delivered via the website or in the classroom.
